Urban Games: This is Not a Program
VANSA Gauteng is working with the WITS School of Arts and the University of Strasbourg (France) on a project to be realised during the latter part of 2012 - URBAN GAMES.
The project will involve students working with artists, curators and academics on an intensive month long engagement with urban space in Johannesburg. WSoA and VANSA will be hosted a group of staff and students from Strasbourg in a week-long experiential adventure across Johannesburg aimed at developing the project concept in preparation for next year.

URBAN GAMES: THIS IS NOT A PROGRAM
"ONCE AGAIN, BLIND EXPERIMENTATION, WITH NO PROTOCOL OR ALMOST NONE."
Urban games is an interdisciplinary collaborative visual arts as research project. It involves a mix of students, artists and pedagogues from France, Egypt, DRC and South Africa doing real time projects within an urban landscape. The one week workshop which involved intensive discussions and activations in situ, was run from the SUBSTATION at the WITS school of arts and extended into the city (including Sandton and Alex). These exploratory encounters are in preparation for much more ambitious encounters to come and were supported by ESAD Strasbourg, WSOA, VANSA and the French Institute.
The week ended with Urban Games hosting a F.U.C.T Friday evening, complete with Congolese cuisine and beats by DJ Press Play, DJ Pause and DJ Fast Breaker.
