ART TALK at 6 Spin Street features Zimbabwe

Creators, Context and Contents is the title of an Art Talk on Zimbabwe’s contemporary art offering on 18 October from 6.30pm, the third such talk hosted by the African Arts Institute (AFAI) at 6 Spin Street.

Zimbabwean-born fine artist and creative entrepreneur, Richard Mudariki, will give an overview of the most important voices in contemporary art and visual culture in Zimbabwe. For the first time ever, the country features four artists at a national pavillion at the Venice Biennale this year. Mudariki is based at the Good Hope Art Studio at the Castle in Cape Town and has earned a reputation locally, as well-respected emerging diaspora artist. His most recent exhibitions include one at Café Manhattan in Cape Town, one for the Zimbabwe German Society in Harare during May and one at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe earlier this year.

The talk will commence at 6.30pm.

Tickets are R30 and include a Spier Creative Block wine tasting from 6pm.

Book at info@afai.org.za or call 021-465 9027.
