Goethe Institute: Assistant for Cultural Programmes

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution operational worldwide. They promote the study of German abroad and encourage international cultural exchange. They also foster knowledge about Germany by providing information on its culture, society and politics. The Johannesburg branch wishes to appoint an assistant for Cultural Programmes.

 The person joining the team will:

  • support the development & implementation of cultural projects in the fields of theatre, dance, music, film 
  • liaise with partners in the cultural field in South Africa & Germany
  • give technical and administrative assistance for cultural events
  • sub-edit public information about the cultural activities of the Goethe-Institut
  • prepare reports of cultural projects for the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg

You should only apply if you have:
  • Relevant tertiary education
  • Excellent access to the cultural scenes in South Africa
  • Distinctive knowledge of contemporary art
  • Experience in the management of intercultural programmes
  • Excellent English & German language writing and sub-editing skills 
  • Advanced PC skills including Power Point and Excel
