The Christopher Moller Gallery is seeking an intern twice a week, in the afternoon, to assist with the daily operations of the gallery.

The gallery deals in contemporary art, specialising in art from the African continent. There is so much exciting talent coming out of Africa. In the past we have seen art doing well on auction from China, Europe and America. Now the art world is looking for the next best thing, they are looking towards Africa.

The successful candidate will be part of a team based in Gardens, Cape Town, reporting to the gallery director and the gallery administrator. This is an ideal opportunity for an art student or graduate, looking to gain experience in a contemporary gallery setting. The gallery is looking to employ the potential candidate’s services twice a week. The applicant will have good communication skills, be organised, trustworthy and be able to work independently and co-operatively. Computer literacy is essential, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, email and Internet. The intern will be paid for their time.

Minimum criteria:

  • Applicants must have or be in the process of completing their degree or diploma in an art or curatorial-related field.
  • A good understanding and knowledge of the history of art is essential.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.

Preferred attributes:

  • Has a driver’s license.
