Lizamore & Associates in Johannesburg has two employment opportunities: Gallery Assistant and part-time Bookkeeper

1. GALLERY ASSISTANT

Lizamore & Associates Gallery is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic gallery assistant to join their team in Johannesburg for a part time, fixed term contract.

The successful applicant will be responsible for general administrative tasks and front of house, as well as ad hoc exhibition related administration. Applicant must present professionally, be able to engage with clients and visitors to the gallery and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Applicants must be prepared to do a diverse range of tasks from hosting guests to account reconciliation. The successful applicant will work alongside the entire Lizamore team.

The range of tasks include:

  • Assist with the day to day running of the gallery
  • General operational and administrative support
  • Receive visitors and handle phone calls and routine enquiries and provide visitors and callers with all relevant and appropriate information
  • Assist with exhibition installation and administration
  • Assist at opening events and art fairs
  • Maintain gallery databases and archives
  • Assist with packaging and consigning of artwork
  • Assist with reconciliations and invoices
  • Attend to the Director's diary and travel arrangements

Skills and experience required:

  • Computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • English compulsory; another South African language an advantage
  • Art gallery experience an advantage
  • A team player with an enthusiastic and proactive attitude
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Exceptional organizational and note-taking skills
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Flexible hours

Basic Working Hours 25 hrs a week - primarily Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 to 15:00. Some flexibility required. Additional hours negotiated.

2. Part-time BOOKKEEPER

Lizamore & Associates Gallery in Johannesburg is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented part-time bookkeeper.

The successful applicant will be responsible for handling all financial transactions and be in charge of all the accounting of the business. This position requires a strong administrative capacity, high accuracy, flexibility and a friendly demeanour.

The range of tasks includes:

  • Invoices
  • Reconciliations
  • Following up unpaid customer invoices
  • Monthly reports on finances
  • Categorizing expenses
  • Maintaining budgets

Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Excellent administration and bookkeeping skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proficiency in Sage One an advantage
  • A team player with an enthusiastic and proactive attitude, both flexible and reliable and able to apply discretion when required

Working Hours: 1 day a week, 09.00 am to 5:00 pm
