EKURHULENI Visual Arts Stakeholder Engagement Session - Springs Community Hall

The SRAC Department of the City of Ekurhuleni’s Visual Arts and Crafts Section will be hosting a Stakeholders Engagement Session for the Visual Arts Sector, in association with The Visual Arts Network of South Africa. The Stakeholder Engagement Session represents the Department’s ongoing commitment to work effectively with its stakeholders and continue to improve performance, increase efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.

Saturday 21 November 2015 at 09:00 till 16:00

The session aims to revitalise the visual arts sector in Ekurhuleni, through communication, engagement, learning, action, and the expression of the needs of the stakeholders. It further aims to increase stakeholder engagement and form genuine partnerships with key sector players, communities, businesses and non-government organisations. It is necessary to bring the business and the arts sectors together. Visual Artists also need to be made self-sufficient by learning how to draft business plans/ proposals, how to apply for grants or funds and they also need to learn business skills.

In order to fill the gaps mentioned above part of the session will be to disseminate further information to the visual arts practitioners in Ekurhuleni and to expose and involve them to new opportunities that have arisen on national and international art fairs.

We are also planning on re-establishing the Ekurhuleni Visual Arts Forum (EVAF), a support network through which visual artists and other creative people can meet and exchange ideas, skills, knowledge and information.

The session is targeting a guest list of 100 different stakeholder groups comprising of not artists only, but of artists and those who love to attend art exhibitions (our audience), collectors, curators, sponsors, etc. During the session our visual artists will be addressed by key sector role players in the promotion and development of the Visual Arts.
