Space Between is a gallery and studio space run by artists and offers studio spaces and support facilities for young artists, particularly those influenced by South African underground art culture. These can include street and graffiti artists; illustrators; sculptors; new media and painters.

SB is a central hub for visual artists working in a variety of media in Woodstock and emphasises community, collaboration, sustainability and the sharing of resources, knowledge and skills. The gallery is located across the road from the Woodstock Exchange and Side Street Studios.

Resident artists can benefit from SB’s open studio days, regular events and networking opportunities potentially to be curated into the gallery curation briefs should your works fit our stipulations.

The gallery is also available to hire as an exhibition premises for external artists- please inquire regarding our cost effective rates!

Space Between currently has two studio spaces available.

  1. 10 m² shared studio space for R 2000.00 / month
  2. 10 m² single studio space for R 2000.00 / month (ideal for a freelance illustrator)

  • 5 - 10 images of your artworks
  • Brief list of achievements and exhibitions

Rental includes electricity, water, 24 hour access, use of bathroom facilities and kitchen. Security gate and keys provided.

About Space Between:

The new gallery aims to promote artwork by street and graffiti artists and those previously marginalized from the established gallery circuits in South Africa. Painters & illustrators; street and graffiti; uncirculated artists and those with unique voices and practices rooted in street culture and popular culture are also included in the gallery program.

Artists such as Nardstar*; Ninjabreadboy; Skullboy; r.1 ; Ariel23; Chris Auret; Danielle Clough; Jack Fox;Russel 'Fatlip' Abrahams; Jack Fox; Mo Hassan; Steve ‘Crack’ are some of the artists whom will regularly feature throughout the year at SB during 2015.

The gallery will be hosting regular group and solo exhibitions, workshops and creative related launches and events.

SB is also available as an exhibition venue for hire to external parties. Venue rental may also include events and functions (private parties and corporates); music related events; workshops; classes and photographic shoots. 

Space Between is conveniently located upstairs at 139 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town. Closely associated are Side Street Studios across the road and The Arcade building a few meters away,  which all host restaurants and beautiful murals by street artists practicing in the Woodstock area.
