Opportunity Description

ACC (Asia Culture Center) is a platform for research and creation where ideas are made and exchanged focusing on art and culture in Asia. This also leads to the production of outcomes that break from conventional forms and transcend boundaries of genre and field. In this context, ACC is seeking for ‘researchers of Asian culture’, ‘creators’, ‘mediators’ and ‘designers’ willing to participate in its ACC_R international Residency Program.

1. Researcher of Asian Culture

ACC_R Fellow
Expected participants -Researchers who have developed original research thems on the subject of Asia
2019 theme (4 categories): food, clothing and shelter/ rituals/ stories/ design of Asia

  • Eligibility Requirements
    Experienced researchers
    Anyone who has received a doctorate and more than 7 years of experience in related fields or has a career of more than 5 years following an associate professorship at a College
    Anyone who has a master degree and has more than 10 years of experience in related fields
    Emerging researchers
    Anyone who has received a doctorate in a related field.
    Anyone who has a master degree and has more than 5 years of experience in a related field.

Creators who can create and realize projects response to the theme of the program
Theme 2019(1st half): Food and technology

  • Eligibility Requirements
    Creators with the potential and experience in the field of art and technology
    Creators who have plans or experience in implementing projects or can develop/demonstrate projects using the facilities and equipment of ACT Studio during one’s two-month-stay

    May – June
    Number of selected participants- Less than 10
  • Project budget
    Maximum KRW 8,000,000/project (production cost)
    The amount can vary according to the concept and realization of the work

  • Category 1 (Pattern Design)
    To produce digital drawing or illustration based on a modern interpretation of Asian patterns and propose products applying the design
  • Category 2 (Product Design)Product design based on a modern interpretation of the form, material, use of traditional Asian household items or craft
  • Eligibility Requirements
    Multidisciplinary, Domestic or Asian planners with experience and potential in the fields of art, media, design, crafts, architecture, engineering and culture planning (independent curators, critics, producers, dramaturgy, cultural planners, etc.) who have planned at least 10 projects and have minimum 5 years of experience)
    Recommended by culture and art related organizations, institutions or school (mandatory)

    To produce digital drawing or illustration based on a modern interpretation of Asian patterns and propose products applying the design

  • Eligibility Requirements
    Product designers or professional product planner or distributors experienced in crafts or product development (minimum 5 years experience in the field)
  • Period
    April – October
    (Maximum 3 months)

    Less than 10
  • Living expenses
    Maximum KRW 3,000,000/month
  • Project budget
    Maximum KRW 20,000,000
    Whether to proceed with the project will be decided after evaluating the final outcome of the program (project proposal, etc.)
  • Workspace: Makers Space in ACC

Project budget will be decided after the proposal and budget plan is reviewed. The amount can differ by projects and increase according to the result of the proposal review.

Notice

  • The program does not support a project that has been already supported by another institution. If you are found to have received support for a single project from multiple institutions, your selection may be revoked even in the future.
  • The participant is liable for an intellectual property right dispute with third parties.
  •  Selection will be revoked if the selected applicant is found to have used another person’s idea without permission or infringed another person’s intellectual property right.
  • Participants must follow the general regulations and confirm this by signing a separate agreement.
  • Policy regarding the copyright of the outcome differs by program
