To commence 1 June 2017

This paid 6-month internship with the possibility of a full-time contract thereafter will appeal to someone interested in the art business who is prepared to start at entry level and grow along with this dynamic business.

Tasks include assisting the Directors and Senior Art Specialist with

  • setting up gallery, offices and auction premises
  • researching artists and artworks
  • assisting with art valuations
  • preparing art valuations, typing cataloguing information, editing images
  • managing logistics for artworks and furniture
  • sourcing consignments for and generating sales through auctions
  • cataloguing and catalogue production
  • storage and archiving
  • keeping an up to date inventory list of artworks
  • organising the movement and storage of artworks
  • developing the database
  • assisting media releases and images for dissemination to various media
  • assisting with website, online platform and social media development and maintenance
  • assisting photographers
  • general administration
  • developing client and key industry relationships

Requirements

  • BA Fine Art with History and Theory of Art or equivalent is preferable
  • A love of art, an interest in the art market and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Good interpersonal and excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop
  • Driver’s license and car

Hours: Monday to Friday 08h30 to 16h30. You may be required to work overtime occasionally.

Remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience.
