Annual list of the most on-the-rise artists in South Africa

The third edition of our annual list of the most on-the-rise artists across various media and subject matter shaping the future of contemporary art in South Africa.

What is Art.co.za Watch List?

We hope to feature emerging young visual artists, artists who’ve gained momentum in the past year, and artists who have persevered for years and are reaching a crucial new stage in their career.

We will be offering 10 shortlisted artists, who aren’t already featured on Art.co.za, a dedicated page featuring a selection of their artworks, their biography and contact information for the duration of one year.

How to Apply

Selected applicants should be full-time professional artists from the realm of visual art. They should exhibit regularly, and/or have studied at a reputable art school and university.

Artists need to submit their artist CV, three examples of their work and a short motivation on why they should be selected.

Entries close on 15 December 2024.

Applications are assessed by the Art.co.za Selection Panel.

Once we have received all the entries, we will select 10 artists for our final list to be launched at the end of January 2025.
