Opportunity Description

La Motte Wine Estate in the Franschhoek Valley requires a person with a thorough knowledge of and affinity for art, culture and historical aspects to join the La Motte team.

Art Curator

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Engaging with visitors to the La Motte Studio about the history/heritage, art and exhibitions.
  • Maintaining and preserving the permanent collections.
  • Managing the studio programme of exhibitions and workshops.
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with artists, artisans and creative collaborators.
  • Managing the Studio regarding visitor reception, budget, security, maintenance, etc.
  • Formulating and presenting art & cultural experiences on the estate.
  • Liaison with culturally related organisations, art and culture media and associated tourism organisations.
  • Provide interior styling assistance.

Applications are awaited from persons who comply with the following:

  • Professional appearance and conduct.
  • An applicable tertiary qualification.
  • Thorough knowledge of art, as well as applicable experience.
  • Excellent ability and fluency in Afrikaans and English (a third language will be a recommendation).
  • A passion for art and culture.
  • A willingness to work on scheduled Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
