Art My Jozi is a Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) creative program which highlights the importance of placemaking through art along theTransit Oriented Corridors and their surrounding neighborhoods. TheTrinity Session is mandated to coordinate and curate all related design processes. Designing artwork for the Art My Jozi project provides an opportunity for all creative’s and storytellers to work within a collaborative and skills transference environment. As commuters, future commuters and cultural producers within your communities, participants have the opportunity to capture the environment, translate experiences and stories and make creative statements. Collective creative experiences and stories will be used to inspire the development of the design process and eventually inform many outcomes based projects in and around theTransit Oriented Corridors.
We are encouraged to find multiple voices in this process, not only individuals but that of a creative collaboration of art forms that communicate the stories and histories along Louis Botha, Empire Perth Corridors.
COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND PARTICIPATION
As with our research and public activation work along other parts of the Development Corridors; in order to gain community support and participation in our open calls for collaborators we have employed conventional press release communication, coupled with posters and fliers linked to the #ArtMyJozi Placemaking through Art Campaign. As the above workshops progress we anticipate releasing targeted creative calls through our combined social media networks in order to promote advocacy for the overall project and special creative outputs. This also serves as a continuous updating process, project diary and opinion platform.
