Wits School of Arts invites applications for the following bursaries that will be awarded by the School under a prestigious grant from the Arts Research Africa project funded by the Andrew W Mellon Foundation.
- Honours degrees: 2 bursaries for 2020 @ R90 000 each (full-time)
- Master’s degrees: 4 bursaries for 2020 @ R100 000 each (full-time)
- Doctoral degree: 1 bursary for 2020 @ R130 000 (full-time)
Please note that the Arts Research Africa Postgraduate Bursary is also available to students who are studying part-time for their degrees. In the case of successful part-time applicants, the bursary will be split over TWO years. For part-time candidates the bursaries will thus be:
- Honours degrees: R45 000 + R45 000 each (part-time)
- Master’s degrees: R50 000 + R50 000 each (part-time)
- Doctoral degree: R65 000 + R65 000 (part-time)
Each bursary is for the duration of one academic year, and the grant will be allocated on academic merit and student need.
Key Information:
- The bursary will be made for postgraduate study at WSOA in 2020.
- Candidates must have been accepted for their course of study in order to qualify for the bursary.
- Closing date: The closing date for applications is 11 January 2020. No late applications will be considered.
