The French government – through the Embassy of France in South Africa and the French Institute of South Africa / Institut français d’Afrique du Sud (IFAS) – launched Création Africa: South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi. This incubation programme was announced in June 2023 by Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, and began from France’s drive to invest in and bolster the arts and culture industries in Africa.
This multi-million-rand initiative aims to support and upscale cultural and creative entrepreneurs based in the aforementioned three countries.
Forty projects will be selected for the mentorship programme. Twelve of those will be chosen by a jury panel to become part of an intensive incubation process that promises to provide financial support suitable for the scale of their businesses or projects, business networks and investors, as well as strategic business guidance for long-term results in business growth.
All entrepreneurs with a start-up, business or project in any of the cultural and creative industries are welcome to apply.
