The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum is looking for crafters working in the Eastern Cape Province to submit unique crafts to be bought for the museum’s shop.
Only crafters resident in the Eastern Cape province may participate. The call-out is open to all crafters 18 years or older as of 1 January 2022.
Craft groups, projects or collectives may enter individual craft works provided that all the crafters responsible for making the work are clearly listed on the entry form. The same conditions of entry apply to collectives.
Only craft works executed in the last 24 months will be accepted.
Entries must be the ORIGINAL WORK of the artist. No reproductions will be accepted.
The value of the Products entered must be between R20 to R 1000 per product.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CRAFT FALLING IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:
- Homeware: Ceramics, wood-ware, table cloths, napkins, cushion covers, candle holders, lamp holders, ornaments, leatherwork (journals) etc.
- Contemporary accessories: Jewellery, shawls, scarves, hats, etc.
- Traditional accessories: Doeks, beadwork, pipes, sticks etc.
- Sets of products, Fashion, clothing items and shoes will not be accepted. Large products will also not be accepted due to limited space.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The selection committee will be looking for high standards of technical skill and workmanship. Craft objects must be innovative and showcase local Eastern Cape creative spirit.
A selection team made up of art and craft professionals will adjudicate the digital submissions. The selectors’ decision is final.
