CALL FOR EXHIBITION PROPOSALS:
The William Humphrey’s Art Gallery (WHAG) in Kimberley would like to invite artists, project coordinators and curators to submit proposals for its 2022/2023 museum exhibition program. As one of the three national museums operating as agencies of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, the WHAG is committed to robust programming that speaks to the social conscience of all South Africans. This is done by aligning the institution with the overarching public service and cultural institutions mandate of collecting, conserving, documenting, researching and exhibiting artworks that enriches and edifies the cultural life of all South Africans.
For the 2022/2023 temporary exhibitions program, proposals that address the following themes are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Redressing omissions/distortions in the South African visual record with specific focus on reproaching colonialism
- Exhibitions reflecting the contemporary lived realities of local/ international communities
- Gender Based Violence and Femicide
- New Media and Photographic Works
