Opportunity Description

The Butterfly Art Project (BAP) is an non-governmental organisation on a mission to encourage creativity and healing through art. Over the past 7 years we have developed not only programmes for children growing up in disadvantaged communities, but a training programme for adults who desire to become Community Art Facilitators for bringing art into their own communities.
In 2017, 96+ adults joined this movement of creatives and started implementing in 30 different communities in the Western Cape. To grow our impact we are aiming to focus in 2018 on our training of trainers and mentors. For that specifically we are looking for artists and educators with the following skill set in the following areas:

Communication Skills

  • written and verbal with BAP staff
  • verbal communication in a training setting

People Skills

  • friendly, welcoming, can converse easily
  • can work with organisations, NGOs and coordinators

Self Management, Productivity, Time Management

  • can make and meet own deadlines
  • shows up prior to training to set-up and prep with class

Represents BAP well & Marketing

  • knows BAP programs and how to advertise
  • equipped with the details of inquiring people and organisations

Leadership Skills

  • can work with a co-trainer (organise time to meet, delegate, team work)

Teaching and Training Skills

  • previous classroom experience to share with trainees
  • knowledge of personal development in people

Creativity & Problem Solving

  • can be flexible in a variety of training settings
  • can adapt and make a plan quickly when things aren’t going according to plan
  • shows initiative and dynamic with solving problems at hand

Cultural sensitivity and strong desire to make the world a better place.
