Opportunity Description

Open to all artists (professional and amateur) in the Eastern Cape (they must reside in the province).

The entry fee for the exhibition will include your membership to EPSAC/ArtEC for the year. As well as affiliation with SANAVA.

There will be three cash prizes for the best three artworks. As well as several other special prizes to be awarded.

The exhibition will take place at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum and the works will hang for two months.

This exhibition is not a curated show. As such, all entered work will be hung.

This is an uncurated show: All work submitted will be shown. (T&C’s applicable). A reminder that exhibition titles are open to the artistic interpretation of the artist making the work; both stylistically and in concept. Some of you may not be landscape artists: we invite you to interpret, misinterpret, abstract the theme, communicate and exaggerate.

In the unlikely event of receiving more work than the venue can hold, there will be a selection process, in which preference will be given to works that take up the theme with a marked intention and an interesting take on the local city/landscapes.

Unframed 2D work will be exhibited–No funding for framing or special requests for displaying work. New media; Artists to supply their own IT.

Size: No works, or section of the work, may be bigger than a standard single door inner frame.

How many works per artist: Three.

Note: Artists are responsible for the delivery and collection of their artwork to and from the Art Museum. There is no funding for framing artworks or for special requests for displaying works. Works must be complete and ready to hang or to be installed
when delivered.

All submissions must be accompanied by a completed entry form:

Theme: The Eastern Cape has a proud tradition of excellent landscape painting and NMM Art Museum houses an interesting collection of works that depicts the regional; street, city and landscapes, and the people who walk those landscapes – lets carry on with the comment, the out-cry, the praise, the beauty. Remember a theme is always open to interpretation.

To support and enhance the value of regionalism in the National cultural arena, the theme of this year’s Annual is the local landscape.

We look forward to an exciting and varied response from our local art community.

Important: Works must have been made in the last 24 months.
