Opportunity Description

Gallery MOMO Cape Town is searching for a motivated and enthusiastic full-time Gallery Assistant to join the team and assist with the day to day running of the gallery. This role has a strong focus on customer service and administration.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Fielding visitors to gallery and assisting with general enquiries
  • Overseeing daily PR on our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram) and monthly newsletters
  • Working with both artists and clients and being sensitive to the needs of both, creating a positive environment for all
  • Conducting research on projects and drafting proposals
  • Assisting at Art Fairs
  • Creating artist and exhibition dossiers
  • Assisting with exhibition planning and production
  • Assisting with stockroom management
  • Maintaining and updating gallery databases


  • An interest in the Visual Arts
  • Eagerness to make a valuable contribution and grow within the company
  • Fine attention to detail
  • Disciplined, reliable and enthusiastic
  • Ability to make decisions and take initiative without close supervision
  • Excellent communication, writing, and research skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the Adobe Suite
  • Diploma or Degree in a related field


  • Prior experience in the art industry
  • Strong graphic design skills
  • Public relations and marketing skills
  • Driving license

Working hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm every alternate Saturday, and occasional evenings as required for exhibition openings and gallery events

Salary: Dependent upon experience
