SMAC Gallery is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. The position is based out of the Cape Town gallery.
Salary: Dependent on experience , mid-level positio
Job Type: permanent with 3 months’ probation
Monday – Friday, 9h00 – 17h00 and 2 Saturdays per month (10h00 – 15h00), with overtime during busy periods and exhibition openings.
Start: as soon as possible
Duties: (Include but not limited to)
- Artwork sales and post-sale client liaison
- Artist liaison, including assisting with production, logistics and communication
- Assisting with installations
- Managing the smooth day-to-day running of the gallery, including gallery administration, office supply orders, supplier liaison etc.
- Basic project management
- General artwork administration and artwork management
- Assisting with storeroom management
- Managing and updating gallery database
- Assisting with general gallery deliveries/collections in and around Cape Town area
- Assisting with general gallery design if needed – InDesign, Photoshop
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 -3 years’ work experience, with previous experience in the arts industry; this is non-negotiable
- Excellent written and verbal communication (English)
- Must be highly organized, professional and accurate
- Excellent administration skills, efficient and methodical with strong attention to detail
- Very strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
- Strong time management and planning skills and able to prioritise in a flexible manner
- Driver’s license & own car
- Contactable references are required
- Computer Literacy : Mac and Excel proficient
- Photoshop, InDesign (advantageous)
- Work well under pressure

- Must be able to adapt to and implement systems/new processes
