The ICA announces a call for proposals for the ICA Live Art Festival 2020 in Cape Town from 22 August – 6 September 2020.
Since 2012, this Festival has challenged and extended the public’s experience of live art in a non-commercial environment. Prior to 2012, there were no exclusive platforms for live art on the continent. Within this vacuum, the ICA Live Art Festival has established a world-renowned meeting ground for live art practitioners – not just to stage work to diverse publics, but to form and sustain relationships with a variety of organisations, places, and cultures.

Proposals:
This open call is for both established and emerging artists to submit proposals to present work at the ICA Live Art Festival 2020. The deadline for submissions is 4 pm, Friday 31 January 2020.
The proposal can be for a live performance, a digital work, a performative installation or intervention, or some other form newly imagined. The ICA does not prescribe a specific theme. Works may be short and whimsical, full length or comprise sustained participation over a few days.
Successful applications will receive technical, publicity and administrative support, and some monetary support to augment their budgets.
