Workshop participants will discover how to create a prototype of an innovative art book that includes technologies such as augmented reality. The workshop will be led by Julie Stephen Chheng, a Paris-based designer, illustrator and author who is engaged in projects in the field of publishing and visual arts that blend state-of-the-art technology and paper.
Creatives in the field of visual art, graphic design, printing, publishing, bookmaking, digital arts.
The workshop will take place at Tshimologong Precinct (41 Juta St, Braamfontein) the 1st of November from 9 am until 1 pm. Creative material needed for the workshop will be available on-site but participants should bring their own computer.
Lunch will be offered at the end of the workshop. The workshop is free!

Julie Stephen Chheng will also attend a panel discussion “Reading in Augmented Reality” on the 31st of October at Dibuka, the multimedia francophone library at 7 pm. The talk will be hosted by Tegan Bristow with the presence of Leigh Leroux. This talk is held in conjunction with The Reading in Digital exhibition. The exhibition displays new forms of literary creations through apps on tablets, computers, and illustrated books. The aim is to introduce the use of tablets in a multimedia library by showing the dialogue that exists between traditional paper books and new forms of digital books.
