Opportunity Description

A picture is a worth a thousand words they say, and we want to hear your story.  Enter the competition and share your amazing photo telling the story of either the challenges or triumphs of women and girls in the world of sport.  Share a title and write up as background to your thoughts around the photo and what it depicts, and you could stand a chance to win and have your photo exhibited in Paris (France), Johannesburg (South Africa), Dakar (Senegal) and Geneva (Switzerland).

PHOTO COMPETITION THEME

Your interpretation of: OVERPOWER. OVERTAKE. OVERCOME.

  • defy stereotypes (OVERPOWER),

  • break through barriers (OVERCOME).Your photo/s should showcase the challenges and triumphs experienced by women and girls in the world of sport.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

The competition is open to all, professional and amateur photographers, regardless of age, gender, or nationality. Entrants under 18 years of age require the permission of a parent or guardian. By entering the contest, entrants under 18 years of age indicate that they have obtained the permission of a parent or guardian.

06 May 2024 – 06 June 2024

JUDGING

  • The winning pictures for the public exhibition in Paris, Johannesburg, Dakar and Geneva will be selected by our panel of Judges.
  • Winners will be announced and contacted by the 1st of July 2024.

WINNING PHOTOS

  • The winning photo and selected images from the competition will be prominently showcased in Paris serving as the main location for the exhibition.
  • Additionally, smaller exhibitions featuring the same collection will open simultaneously in galleries and spaces across cities such as Dakar, Geneva and Johannesburg.
  • The images will also be published in the form of a coffee table book planned for the end of 2024.

PRIZES

The top 20 images selected will be awarded cash prizes as well as have their work exhibited and printed. Special thanks to our partner Bobbi Brown for sponsoring the prize money.

  • RUNNER UP – $1 250
  • SECOND RUNNER-UP – $750
  • 17 FINALISTS – $350

How to Apply

  • Fill out the entry from and submit your 1 or maximum 2 favorite photos by uploading them to the form. Images my not be larger than 20MB
  • The photo/s must have been taken by you and you may not share or submit images that does not belong to you. As per the Organization’s rules and regulations, the photographer will need to warrant that the work made is created by him/her; that him/her is the sole and unrestricted owner of the exclusive rights in the works, free from encumbrances, and that no third party is entitled to any intellectual property rights with regard to the work. The Contractor will also need to ensure that no third-party rights were infringed in the making of the work.
  • Give your photo a title and share a write up of no more than 200 words that describes the message behind the image or sharing a personal experience. Something you want the audience to know when looking at your photo.
  • Your photo caption and /or short description, may be submitted in Arabic, English, French, Portuguese or Spanish, for each photograph with information on the place, time and subject.
  • Entries are open from the 6th of May 2024 to the 6th of June 2024.

PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDELINES

  • The competition is open to all image data files created with a device capable of taking still images, including smartphones and digital still cameras (including medium and large-format digital cameras).
  • Images that have been retouched using camera apps, photo editing apps, other software, etc. will be accepted.
  • Both color and monochrome images will be accepted but will compete against each other.
  • File size: up to 20 MB of image data per image will be allowed to be uploaded.
  • Image data file format: JPEG/150 dpi or more is recommended.
  • Images can be submitted in either landscape or portrait format.
  • The standard color space for the judging process is RGB.
  • Entrants must hold all applicable rights to the final image, including any retouching or other image processing.

Winners might be asked to provide higher resolution images for publication or display purposes related to the contest.
