Arts & Culture at the University of Johannesburg calls for applications for internships funded by Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA).
UJ Arts & Culture, a division of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA), will host four interns who will receive mentorship, and participate in development programmes related to copywriting, digital marketing, event management and art gallery administration. Internships will commence from the 01st of October 2022 and run for a period of for 12-months; based at the UJ Arts Centre on the University’s Kingsway Campus in Auckland Park.

Copywriting internship:
The intern will receive mentorship on writing copy for social media campaigns, adverts, media statements and magazine and online articles. Additionally, interns will have access to the UJ Library for further development. The aim of the internship is to develop computer literacy, writing skills, creative thinking, innovation, planning and organising skills and good work ethics.
Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Journalism, Copywriting, English Literature, Public Relations, Communications and Creative Writing and/or related fields.
Digital Marketing internship:
The intern will receive mentorship on animating content and images for social media advertising and archiving, recording interviews and editing, compiling show reels for advertisement on screens in the theatre foyer and across the University. Additionally, interns will have access to the UJ Library for further development. The aim of the internship is to develop computer literacy, editing and filming skills, animating content, creative thinking, innovation, planning and organising skills and good work ethics.
Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Journalism, Digital Marketing, Design, Public Relations, Communications and Fine Art, Graphic Design and Media Studies and/or related fields.
Event Management internship:
The intern will be mentored on planning and coordination of a wide range of events. Additionally, interns will have access to the UJ Library for further development. The aim of the internship is to develop event planning and coordination capabilities, computer literacy, planning and coordination skills, communication skills, creative thinking, innovation, and good work ethics.
Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Events Management, Marketing, Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration and/or related fields.
Art Gallery internship:
The Intern will be mentored on administrative functions of an art gallery environment including guest relations, assisting with curatorial affairs, collections management, events, and gallery management. Additionally, interns will have access to the UJ Library for further development. The aim of the internship is to develop administrative skills that would relate to especially an art gallery environment, computer literacy, planning and coordination skills, communication skills, creative thinking, innovation, and good work ethics.
Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Fine Art, Design and Studio Practice, Heritage Studies, Art History, Business Administration and/or related fields.
Recent graduates with relevant qualifications are eligible to apply. Applications will close at 12 pm on 5 September and no late applications will be accepted. Applicants will be paid a monthly stipend of R5000.00.
