In 2012 and 2015 ‘Journey with an Artist’ was hosted and supported by Sacred Heart College, with facilitation from MindBurst Workshop. It led to the production of two books that helped to raise awareness and funding for the Three2Six Education Project, empowering refugee children. It was also nominated for a BASA Award. This year we will be facilitating the Journey with an Artist process for the third time. Children will once again be working on individual or group artworks with the guidance of practising artists.
Sacred Heart College, Three2Six Education Project and MindBurst Workshop are looking for practising artists and storytellers who would like to volunteer five days of their time (3 December 08H30 – 17H00; 4 – 7 December 07H30 – 13H30) to work with refugee children in the process of creating handmade books.
You will need to be available for the full duration of the project, as a small group of learners will be mentored by you. This is volunteer work, but there will be a small honorarium.
The books will be created in a variety of formats (drawing, painting, collaging, paper folding, etc. – depending on the expertise of the artist).
