The Orange Art Project was launched during lockdown in 2020 in partnership with Home from Home and introduces children and youth in foster homes to creativity, arts and crafts.
Through a network of diverse professional artists up to four weekly art sessions are held in the foster homes around the greater Cape Town area each month. Foster Mothers are encouraged to participate with the children and young people whose ages range from 2 to 18 years old.
Art outings are planned every two months and visits have included Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art, Irma Stern Museum and Kirstenbosch. These are designed to expose the children to the broader art industry, to build community and a sense of self as well as opening minds to the possibility of careers in the arts.
