Opportunity Description

The STAND Foundation launched its inaugural Leadership Initiative in 2021 with more than 40 participants over a period of 8 months. Based on that experience, STAND Foundation will be offering two shorter leadership training blocs of four months each in 2022.

STAND’s Leadership Initiative aims to identify and equip a younger generation of leaders for the arts sector generally, and for theatre and dance in particular.

The results of the first leadership course are already apparent in the sector.

The first four-month course runs from 1 February to 31 May 2022 and will include weekly webinars covering leadership, governance, cultural policy, critical thinking, fundraising, etc, mentorships by some of the industry’s leaders, working groups to gain practical experience and to facilitate peer-to-peer learning, and access to networks and opportunities within the sector.

“The STAND Leadership Programme provided me with much needed historical context to make sense of the long-standing challenges in the arts and culture sector in South Africa and a toolkit of information, opportunities, and networks to engage constructively.”

– Ntshadi Mofokeng, 2021 participant
