Salary Range: R15 130.73 pm (basic salary excluding benefits)

Appointment Requirements:

  • Grade 12 and Certificate in Security/NQF level 5;
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity;
  • Good knowledge of security systems;
  • First aid/fire-safety/computer training;
  • Understanding of OHASA and safety and security measures.

Primary Function: Oversee the security function of the museum and supervising Museum Attendants.

Key Performance Areas: Prepare and institute 24 hour security duty roster. Supervise job performance of immediate assistants. Administer time management schedules for immediate assistants. Arrange regular meetings with immediate assistants. Manage security for internal and external functions to be held at the museum. Check deliveries of incoming orders. Record assets taken off and returned to the premises. Implement basic training sessions. Attend first aid and fire-fighting training sessions. Coordinate cross-functional duties. Manage in-house outgoing bulk post.

Activate video installation on temporary exhibition at the opening time and de-activate when the museum is closed to the public. Duties at Head Office: Security (Monitor high-tech equipment such as CCTV screens/fire detectors/door monitor panel; Administer large keypress; Record details of assets removed and returned; Answer incoming calls when required).

Leading Competencies: Ability to monitor security systems, safety and security of priceless collections and public visitors. Understand the OHASA Act. Manage staff, schedules and activities within the museum. Teamwork & Accountability. Knowledge and experience in Security.

Core Competencies: Communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Computer literacy, First Aid and Fire Fighting/Safety. Batho Pele Principle – Customer Service.
