The Falconer Foundry offers a skills-based residency programme in South Africa for emerging and established sculptors.
This program is part of our ongoing commitment to innovation within the foundry context and the promotion of the age-old technique of bronze casting. In addition to accommodation and shared studio space in a working foundry, on-site mentorship is provided by our department heads in the following specialist areas: mould-making, pouring wax, slurry work, pouring metal, metalwork and patina. Our aim is to nurture a new generation of artists and art-lovers fluent in the labour-intensive and highly-skilled process of handcasting bronze sculpture. Stays range from a minimum of one week to several months. Our studio space is also available for artists working on large-scale projects and for workshops.
