Opportunity Description

VANSA is pleased to announce an open call for groups based in small towns and villages of South Africa interested in creating wider art networks in their regions.

This is a pilot project for arts collectives and other creatives who feel they want to do more in their town or village and want to connect to the visual arts sector across South Africa. The project’s main objective is to support artists and groups who want to make things happen where they are.

The selected groups will be provided with professional tools and information compiled by VANSA. They will also be supported by VANSA’s extensive network of artists, organisations, and institutions.

How to Apply

Submit a 250-word description or a 1-2 minute video of “Why My Town is Cool”. Tell us about who you are, the arts in your town, your envisioned project and why you and your town should be a part of this programme. You can enter as a group of maximum 8, or as individuals who want to network and meet other artists nearby.

Send your applications and any inquiries to Kanya Sizani on kanya@vansa.co.za

Up to 3 groups will be chosen to participate in the pilot project. An interview process will be conducted with the shortlisted groups or individuals. VANSA reserves the right not to make a selection. The programme will run from March to May 2018.
